Google + adds to its platforms

Google + is gathering pace as it now presents itself in app form for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad tablet.

The web giant has given the Google + iOS app Version 1.0.2. 1966 ‘various speed and performance improvements’, and it is free from the iTunes App Store – no stone has gone unturned in making sure the new version is irresistible.

Many improvements have been directed towards the Circle and Huddle users – further support for the Huddle group texting applications is now available, and a conversation (text, obviously) can be started direct from their profile.

Huddlers can restrict who is allowed to converse with them, and also hide Huddles, of the one-on-one kind, from their list.

Circles social connections project has aggregated contact notifications for users, and these users can also customise the main Google+ stream view to suit them, i.e. show only the streams they want to see from individual circles.

July, the month Google revealed the Google+ iOS app, was not the company’s best.

Deleting a large number of the social network user accounts was not a popular move. The reasons cited were apparent policy violations – Google is looking at ways to improve access, and have apologised.

Apparently, near the end of July, Google+ traffic fell by three per cent, compared with a huge 283 per cent rise the week before.

However, a spokesperson from the firm that released the results above, Experian Hitwise, also called the figures a blip due to some traffic from mobile devices and platforms being excluded.

Even the great and mighty fall into disarray sometimes – but should we expect better?
