Oracle CRM on Demand roams Europe

At the beginning of the week Oracle CRM on Demand went local in Europe – in a UK data centre to be precise. To have the SaaS applications securely hosted from within the EU is a ‘significant step forward.’ And, of course, great for new business.

Steve Fearon, Vice President, CRM On Demand EMEA, Oracle, explained how European enterprises would be much happier with the proximity as ‘information assurity around sensitive customer data is becoming an ever-increasing concern of major European businesses and regulators.’ With the new set up European organisations – particularly those in Public and Financial sectors - will be able to meet their own information assurance and regulatory goals, with regards to managing their European Data.

Fearon continued. "We see many large and medium enterprises wantingto benefit from the SaaS delivery and economic model and by now hostingcustomer data within the EU, Oracle is opening up this opportunity to thoseorganizations that want SaaS CRM and want this option for hosting theirEuropean data."

Oracle can now reach customers that previously were unavailable due to the EU Data Protection booking. Steve Fearon puts it clearly, ‘Now they can enjoy world-class CRM from us in a SaaS model which is hosted within the European Union.’

Oracle CRM On Demand is the company’s fastest growing application, provided as a service over the Internet. Having the option to store data within the EU is in stark contrast to most other providers who usually host applications outside the EU, or depend on third party companies.

As always in the IT world there is competition in the wings – by 2012 Salesforce.com are planning to launch a centre in the UK. However, Oracle, at the moment, is a step ahead.
