The latest Peoplesoft version from Oracle, Peoplesoft 9.1, was launched this week, and has set HR employees’ pulses racing at the possibilities.
The new Peoplesoft provides companies with the ability to manage HR processes in one place, rather than feeding information through different departments. One example given by Tim Darton, senior director for HCM at Oracle, was the advantages Peoplesoft 9.1 can bring to a process such as processing a pay increase.
Normally, this would involved linking to various applications such as salaries, performance reports and third party salary reports, he said. With 9.1, the HR officer can bring all these applications together for greater efficiency.
The new version has also helped to take HR to the next level of mobile communications. Peoplesoft 9.1 has an iPhone application called iReceipts which allows users to take a photo on their iPhone of a receipt, enter the relevant information, and have their expenses processed on the go. The software also has room for more applications like this in future, making for more efficient working for everyone.
It’s also taken a huge leap into the web technologies that the new generation of web-users expect as standard. Gone are ugly and less convenient user interfaces. Peoplesoft 9.1, thanks to a new dynamic HTML and Ajax, now has everything users expect from something as slick and well-designed as Facebook; context sensitive pop-over, predictive search, partial screen refresh, zoom into tables without losing context, public and private tag clouds, and RSS feeds.
Within the industry, this new version is set to take users by storm. When Steve Meyer, Regional Manager at Oracle, announced that the Peoplesoft 9.1 Premier Tour will be extended to include a four-part eSeminar series due to popular demand, we here at Inatech were not surprised.
