Keynote Speakers Gear Up For UKOUG 2008

This year’s UKOUG will include a host of useful and informative addresses from keynote speakers, focused on how Oracle can help businesses with banking and taxation, integration, intelligent information sharing and more.

Starting things off is Michelle Maden on 1st December at 14.25 in Executive Hall 2, delivering Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (R12) – Benefits for the Global Mid Market Organisation.

This presentation describes how Oracle supports the needs of the Global Mid Market Organisation in the
following key areas optimum trading structure and intercompany centralised banking; key controls in taxation; enhanced reporting and inquiry with ledger sets; multi-organisation access control; and rapid implementation.

On 2nd December, Simon Ellis will deliver Menage a Trois: Mixing Microsoft, Oracle and Open Source technologies – a “non-techie perspective” at 13.05 in Hall 6.

The presentation will tackle the traditionally negative viewpoint of many Oracle implementers when it comes to using Microsoft technology, and attempts to explain in dept the principles of “open source”. Using recent experiences, both positive and negative, of “mashing up” different Microsoft, Open Source and Oracle technologies, the presentation will deliver advice for those “none too technical” Oracle implementation teams.

The following day at 10.35 in Hall 8B, Doug Toop will give his presentation, entitled Complex Approvals Management Engine (AME) Workflow Design for Requisitions using Oracle iProcurement.

Doug will explore the requirement of complex workflow solution for document approval, and complex multi-matrix requirement of generating the approvers list, for a requisition using Oracle AME for large and medium businesses which implement self-service applications like iProcurement. The solutions presented will incorporate reminder notification for the approvers, Cross Business group approvers, Blackberry integration & personalization for messages.

Piyush Govil will follow this on 4th December at 16.20 in Hall 7A with Integrating Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) with Application Express (APEX) for MultiFormat Reports.

Piyush will explore the problems faced by users who need intelligent information sharing, but are limited by web applications that do not allow such format changes, and will explain how Oracle Application Express (OAX) can solve problems like this by tightly integrating with Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Publisher to provide high-fidelity printing capabilities. The presentation will demonstrate how Oracle APEX can generate reports in Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and HTML formats from any region if Oracle BI Published is installed, as well as how to define report templates and customize a report’s graphical aspects.
