Big Yellow Taxis bring Inatech to New York

The National Retail Federation (NRF) 100th Annual Convention & Expo 2011 has been on in New York City this week. Steve Duff, Sales Director, Inatech USA was at the event along with many others from the industry.

The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center provided the venue for the NRF to present an opportunity for all attendees to network with colleagues and ‘discover new solutions to better your business.’

FIRAE kicked off the convention last Saturday with a welcome set in Times Square. Over the course of the event speakers covered fashions past, present and future, IT security – how the stakes are now much higher, and the solutions that retailers can take on board. Can companies trust their customers ‘to know what they want?’ With today’s data – the answer may be yes.

Robert Damuth, economist and past VP from Nathan Associates, Inc, discussed retailing in India – with an economy set to over take China’s by 2015, the Indian Market is an area many retailers are exploring. Whilst Andrew Koven (of Steve Madden) spoke of the mobile opportunities that retail needed to embrace to be successful.

Not surprisingly, social media was broached with the retail audience, ‘Not on Facebook? Here’s why you should be.’ Apparently retailers still have to grasp the full importance of the social media phenomenon. Get on board, was the message.

The Members of the NRF board of directors even got to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange - perhaps a gift, of sorts, to mark the success of the 100th Convention.
