As part of its plans to integrate partners across Sun and Oracle technologies, Oracle has released new channel specifications which cover storage and server platforms such as Sparc enterprise high-level and midrange servers, Sun Chip Multithreading servers, Sun Storage 7000 Unified storage systems, StorageTek tape libraries and Oracle Solaris.
This takes the total number of specialisations up for grabs to 35. As part of Oracle PartnerNetwork’s expansion in December, there are now 23,000 partners with specialisations.
The specialisation program is now open for applications for gold and platinum partners. Partners, depending on their status, could benefit from exposure across Oracles websites and promotional material, access to demonstration services, free support service requests and broader partner support through to enablement initiatives, discounts on licensing and programs, sales kits, and marketing development funds.
This represents further support promised by Oracle for Sun technology users and vendors. As well as the specialisations, Oracle is also offering the new Sun Knowledge zones, which bring together training modules and online data sheets to help organisation aiming for partner status. There is also a partner webcast series providing information around specialisations and platforms.
Oracle world alliances and channel senior vice-president, Judson Althoff, said:
“The number of certified specialisations we have already seen since the program was rolled out just six months ago is a testament to real and tangible benefits partners see in this program. Quickly following the close of the Sun acquisition, we are delivering on our promise to embrace and support Sun partners and provide new training and specialisations that support core Sun technologies.”
