As Oracle OpenWorld 2009 winds down, Inatech presents a short summary of the highlights of this year’s conference.
With 37,000 attendees and over 1,800 conference sessions, OpenWorld 2009 was a massive event, and attendees came away brim-full of the hot topics of the day.
Oracle’s Green Marketplace in Moscone North was a resounding success. The Marketplace demonstrated to attendees how businesses can become eco-enterprises, and how Oracle has worked with partners to integrate sustainability into their projects.
Oracle vice president, product development Thomas Kurian delivered a keynote speech outlining the technology challenges today’s businesses face, and how Oracle proposes to help them rise to those challenges. During the course of his speech, Kurian advocated customizable business process infrastructures built on Oracle Application Integration Architecture to achieve the most efficient business process management.
He went on to explain how Oracle Database 11g R2 and Oracle Middleware 11g can help customers to add capacity whilst working with in tight budgets. On business intelligence, Kurian brought onstage Michael Siebert of IngersollRand, who outlined how Oracle applications help his company unify its BI.
On the Wednesday of the conference, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison addressed the attendees, along with S. Gopalakrishnan, CEO of InfoSys. Ellison gave a master class in enterprise data management, covering Oracle Enterprise Linux and Oracle Exadata V2, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Fusion Applications. Ellison’s keynote speech was topped off by a surprise appearance from California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who said that technology is “the bridge to solving problems in the 21st century.”
The next Oracle Openworld event will be held during 19th-23rd Septmber 2010.
