ILOG unveils mean, green November triple whammy

In the past few weeks ILOG, the software and technology and solutions provider, has been pulling out all the stops to make both desktop and internet rich applications easier for businesses. With two new products and an online forum launched by the company in the short space of a few weeks, ILOG has made three long strides towards progress.

On 12th November ILOG announced the launch of its new online community for developers of Rich Internet Applications (RIA), which can be found at www.riasphere.org. The forum aims to help developers share and publicise their expertise, learn best practices and increase their own visibility within the developer community; in short, it is a space where developers can meet, network, communicate and learn from each other. There will also be a host of information sources within RIAsphere, including news, user-generated content, comment from IT experts, worldwide events listings and interviews with IT industry gurus. All of this is available, plus a virtual marketplace where developers can showcase their work and sell their services and expertise through RIA applications and ads.

Focusing on user interface development on RIA platforms such as AJAX, Flex and Silverlight, RIAsphere will be moderated by an independent international committee of founding members.

Just the next week, ILOG announced the launch of ILOG JViews 8.5, a new version of the company’s Java-based visualisation suite. The new package promises features to enhance the creation of RIAs and desktop applications. It even boasts industry-first support for the Eclipse platform, with features such as the new JViews Graph Layout module. There is also new support for AJAX frameworks. The package includes a total of seven modules targeting diagrams, charts, graph layout and map displays which, ILOG claims, make the package the most comprehensive on the market.

In the same week, ILOG launched ILOG Transportation Analyst 2.0, a new transportation planning solution and the latest addition to ILOG’s LogicTools suite of supply chain applications. Transportation Analyst aims to enable retail consultants and planners, chain analysts, companies providing consumer packaged goods, and third party logistics providers to quickly analyse many different strategies to determine the best way to deliver products and utilise transportation assets. Getting onboard with the green technology revolution, Transportation Analyst also boasts a degree of sustainability, allowing users to analyse their carriers’ carbon emission levels and evaluate carbon reducing techniques within their supply chain.
